At North Home (INHEMSK Retail Ltd) we believe the objects we bring into our homes should be made with care: not only for design, but also for the people and resources involved in creating them.

While we are a small independent retailer and do not manufacture the products we sell, we aim to work with brands and makers who share our values around thoughtful production, longevity and responsible sourcing.

Our approach includes the following principles.

Responsible Packaging

We aim to minimise unnecessary packaging wherever possible.

  • Online orders are packed using recyclable cardboard and paper-based materials wherever possible.
  • We prioritise paper tapes and recyclable protective materials instead of plastic alternatives where practical.
  • Packaging materials received from suppliers are reused whenever possible to reduce single-use waste.

Supporting Responsible Production

Because we curate products from a wide range of suppliers, our environmental impact is closely linked to the brands we choose to work with.

Where possible, we prioritise suppliers who:

  • manufacture within Europe or closer to their primary markets to reduce transportation distances
  • produce smaller batch or handmade items, reducing industrial overproduction
  • work with durable materials designed for long-term use

Handmade & Small-Scale Production

Many items we sell are created by independent makers, artisan workshops, or small production studios.

Handcrafted production methods often involve:

  • smaller production runs
  • greater care in material selection
  • longer product lifespans

We believe products that are designed to last help reduce unnecessary consumption.

Vintage & Repurposed Pieces

Where possible, we also include vintage and repurposed items within our product selection.

Extending the life of existing objects helps reduce the need for new manufacturing and supports a more circular approach to design.

Ongoing Improvement

Sustainability is an ongoing process rather than a fixed goal.
