The heavy and the light can have both similar and opposite impacts on us.The mass of the boulder can move us by its size but also by its smoothness, the jagged crack running through it, and the micro eco-system sustained by its presence. Adding different textures within our homes support character, warmth, and can change the mood and feel of a space as well as inside us. Adding a throw on to a sofa is simple but comes in many varied options; for example choose a heavy quilt in winter, or a light linen or coloured silk in the warmer months. Just like outdoors, you can mix light, fluffy, long ‘haired’ cushions with others that are smoother in texture whilst also having a bright print on them.
